The tournament

Euro 2028 is hosted by the United Kingdom and Ireland. Matches are played in nine stadiums across eight cities in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. As in 2024, 24 teams take part.

The opening match is at the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff. Both semi-finals and the final are played at Wembley in London, with the final on 9 July 2028.

Qualifying

All four host nations — England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales — enter qualifying normally. Two places are held in reserve for hosts that fail to qualify through the group stage. The qualifying draw takes place on 6 December 2026 in Belfast.

That means the field is not settled until the qualifying campaign finishes in 2027.

Running a Euros pool

A Euros lasts a month and has a steady rhythm: three group matches per team, then the knockouts. That makes it one of the easiest tournaments to build a pool around — everyone knows the countries, and nobody needs to recognise squad players from the lower divisions to join in.

You can create the pool and invite your group now, well before the schedule is known.
